  • Comparing the E-Z Lube Hubs to the Standard Hub Assemblies for Trailer Axles
  • The difference between the standard and EZ hubs is in the grease cap. For instance, the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K is the same hub, bearings, seal, and races as found in # AKHD-545-35-K but the grease cap is different. The grease cap is not only longer on the E-Z Lube Hubs but also has a rubber plug. The purpose of the length and the plug are to have enough room for and access to the grease zerk fitting integrated into E-Z lube axle spindles....

  • Difference Between HydraStar Disc Brake Kit HSE7K-TR1 & HSE7K-TR1SO for 7K Triple-Axles

What that means is that if you need new hubs with the brake kit you will want the HydraStar Disc Brake Kit with Actuator for Triple Axle Trailers - 13" Hub/Rotor # HSE7K-TR1. If your hubs are in fine shape and you just want the kit with the slip-on rotors you will want the HydraStar...

  • Differences Between Dexter 42866UC3-EZ and 8-219-4UC3-EZ Trailer Brake Hub/Drums

Either hub/drum includes the bearings, races, grease seal, lug nuts and E-Z Lube dust cap. The # 42866UC3-EZ also includes the spindle nut and the retainer for the spindle nut. The # 8-219-4UC3-EZ includes everything mentioned above, except for the spindle nut and retainer. The only other difference is that the # 8-219-4UC3-EZ uses a grease...

  • Does Redline Trailer Bearing Grease Seal # 29031 Include a Spring
  • The Redline Trailer Bearing Grease Seal # 29031 that you referenced does not include a spring. This single-lip seal is for use in the inside end of a trailer hub (the side closest to the axle and furthest from the spindle). I think the part with a spring that you are referring to is a special type of outer grease cap (not an inner grease seal) called a Bearing Buddy. These mount on the outside end of the trailer hub/spindle in place of a standard closed grease cap. They hold a supply...

  • Bearing Buddy Bearing Protector Replacement Options
  • The Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors, # BB1968SS, are designed to keep grease from exiting and water and dirt from entering. These bearing protectors come with an automatic pressure-relief feature to prevent overfilling. The grease will seep around the piston and into the barrel when it is full. You should not add additional grease once the Bearing Buddy is full to prevent the seal from blowing out. I would also recommend using the Bearing Buddy Grease Seal Set, # BB60002. These seals...

  • Comparing Chinese Bearings with Bearings Made in the USA
  • A bearing, no matter where it is made, has to meet certain standards for use in the United States. With that said there are some cases where despite having to meet these standards, the US made product is better. When it comes to bearings though I have seen USA made bearings fail as much as Chinese bearings. And I have seen each perform well. The key is to keep the bearings properly lubricated, packed with grease. If someone neglects basic maintenance then they will have trouble, no matter...

  • What is the Difference Between 1.25 Inch Trailer Bearings
  • The short answer is Yes, bearing # 15123 is slightly larger and stronger than # LM67048 and they use different races which means they are not interchangeable. Bearing 15123 uses race # 15245 which has an outer diameter of 2.441 inches and bearing LM67048 uses race # LM67010 which has an outer diameter of 2.328 inches. The size and strength differences are due to the fact that bearing # 15123 is used in a higher weight capacity hub. Bearing # 15123 is the outer bearing for a hub for a...

  • Is TruRyde Outer Bearing # LM67048 Equal to Timken Bearing 02475
  • The outer bearing in the TruRyde Bearing Kit, part # BK3-300, is part # LM67048. This outer bearing has an internal diameter of 1.25 inches and uses a bearing race # LM67010 with an outer diameter of 2.328 inches. The bearing kit # BK3-300 is designed for 5,200-lbs axle, 6,000-lbs axle, and 7,000-lbs axle. I looked up a Timken # 02475 bearing and it also shows an internal diameter of 1.25 inches, but is rated for a larger 8,000-lb axle, so it will be used on a larger hub with a different...

  • Which is Best: Dexter, Tekonsha, or etrailer.com Brake Assemblies
  • The three brands of brake assemblies are made by different companies. None of them are made by each other. It might seem strange but if it were my trailer I would install Dexter assemblies. They have the best reputation because they are designed well and use high quality components. You really can't beat Dexter's axle components. For a 7k rated axle the best setup around is going to be the Dexter self adjusting assemblies part # 23-465 for the right hand side and part # 23-464 for the...

  • Yes, we have the Trailer Hub Assembly for 2,000 lbs Axles with 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern, and 1 inch inside diameter bearings, item # AKIHUB-440-2-1K. You should check the existing bearing part numbers on your trailer to be sure that they are the # L44643 inner and outer bearings. Your seal part number should be # 34823, with an inner seal dimension of 1.249 inches. The hub you referenced has 1-1/16 inch inside diameter bearings, and would not work on a 1 inch spindle. The bearings for...

  • Comparing Bearing Buddy and Kodiak Red Eye Trailer Bearing Protectors
  • You can use bearing protectors on a hub with electric brakes. You have to make sure you are using a double lip seal though because a single lip seal is more likely to blow and allow grease to leak out and get all over the hub and brake components. Also, you have to make sure that you do not use too much grease, even with a double lip seal, because of the same possibility of blowing the seal. Based on the numbers you have provided you will likely need a 10-19 seal, # RG06-050 for a pair....

Between the two I recommend going with the # 8-285-11 along with bearings # 25580 and # 02475, grease seals # RG06-070, lug nuts # 6-53, and grease caps # rg04-120. For brakes I recommend the self adjusting braking assemblies # 23-434-435. Since you mentioned your axle does...
